Damoh, Bureau Report: Taking a massive leap toward fostering entrepreneurship, Damoh district successfully hosted a comprehensive district-level TEJAS Workshop today. Jointly organized by the MP Startup Center and Startup India, the event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of hundreds of young students and budding entrepreneurs from both urban and rural areas of the district. The full-day intensive training session was designed to equip the youth with practical knowledge on launching startups, leveraging government schemes, and navigating digital market platforms.
From Idea to Enterprise: Solving Local Problems
The initial sessions of the workshop focused heavily on problem identification and viable business modeling. Mentors guided the attendees on how to turn local challenges into profitable business ventures. Key takeaways from this session included:
- Local Opportunities: Experts highlighted the immense business potential in the Bundelkhand region, specifically advising the youth to focus on Damoh's rich agriculture, handicrafts, and medicinal wealth.
- Minimum Viable Product (MVP): Students were taught the step-by-step process of creating an MVP. This strategy allows founders to test their business models on a small scale and understand real market demand before making massive financial investments.
MSME Benefits and Government E-Marketplace (GeM)
The biggest highlight of the district-level workshop was the detailed session on government grants and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) schemes. Subject matter experts broke down the mathematics of government support for young innovators. Participants learned that registering under the MSME framework grants startups access to patent subsidies, electricity bill discounts, and priority status in government tenders. Furthermore, the experts simplified the processes for obtaining DPIIT recognition, securing funding through the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme, and claiming tax exemptions for the first three years under the MP Startup Policy 2022.
To solve the crucial problem of finding a consumer base, the mentors strongly emphasized the benefits of the GeM (Government e Marketplace) portal. By registering on this platform, any new startup can transparently sell its products and services directly to government departments and ministries. The successful event concluded with the distribution of training certificates to all participants.
