Damoh, Bureau Report: In a significant relief for local residents, Damoh MLA Jayant Malaiya conducted a comprehensive inspection of the ongoing drainage works in Subhash Colony on Saturday morning. Addressing the persistent issue of monsoon flooding, the MLA assured citizens that strict measures and continuous cleaning operations by the administration will ensure a waterlogging-free environment, even in the event of heavy rainfall this year.

Permanent Solutions and Fund Allocations

To combat the drainage issues effectively, the local administration is implementing both short-term cleaning drives and long-term infrastructural upgrades. During his visit, MLA Malaiya highlighted several key administrative decisions aimed at resolving the crisis:

  • A fresh sum of Rs 20 lakh has been sanctioned from the MLA fund to address the immediate waterlogging problems in the area.
  • A detailed, comprehensive estimate for the permanent, concrete construction of the main drain has been prepared and officially forwarded to the state government for approval.
  • Continuous municipal desilting and repair operations are currently underway to prepare the existing channels for the upcoming monsoon rains.

Quality Control and Official Directives

Following the assessment of Subhash Colony, the MLA proceeded to inspect the under-construction drainage system near the Navjagriti School. He issued strict directives to the on-site officials, emphasizing that there must be no compromise on the quality of construction materials and that all civil work must be completed within the stipulated timeframe. Malaiya reiterated his commitment to the city's holistic development, ensuring that citizens face no inconvenience regarding basic civic amenities.
